[Blog] Northside Baptist Church

Good Morning NBC Blog Land,
13 saved yesterday!!!! A-men

I pray all is well in your home and in your heart.

Lord willing we will be starting a Father and Son Soul Winning Club.  This will meet every Saturday from 10:00AM to 11:30AM.  We will also discuss fatherhood, guiding our boys to be men. If this interests you and think this will be a help then come – on out and be apart of this club. To Be Announced…

This morning I want to touch on Proverbs 22:10  “Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out: Yea, strife and reproach shall cease.”

In my Noah Webster’s Dictionary I find a unique truth about the word scorner.  Mr. Webster defines a scorner as, “One who scorners, especially one who holds religion in derision.”  Now derision means one who is trying to deride or ridicule, to laugh at what you do for the Lord, to mock at the right actions of others.

Here is the direction I am going to take with this. Many of us know that getting rid of the scorner does rid the strife and reproach from our life, but what if we are the scorner of things in our own life.  We mock at things that are to be installed in our own life.  We laugh at good wholesome deeds, righteous deeds, that we know are right to be there but refuse to do them because we have become a scorner in our own heart.

For example, we believe soul winning is right, we believe that that is the only way man might be saved, but we do not go. But more sobering we laugh in our heart and mock this great truth of soul winning.  We become a scorner in our own mind, not out loud but in our heart.  Do you see in this verse what contention is?  Contention is debate.  A scorner is always in debate mode.  He is always trying to down play any urgency to a righteous cause or act.  You are in constant battle with yourself and God.  You are not happy.  You are not joyful.  You always allow soul winning to be on trial in your life.  Being a scorner means you will always look for the easier, simpler, fastest way to over step His laws or His ways.

Another example of this verse is when you know tithing is right but you do not give God’s money.  Outwardly you are in agreement, outwardly you may even teach it, outwardly you have shown signs of fulfilling this obedience but inwardly you are a scorner.  Your heart is not in it nor does it.  You laugh at God’s commands and even mock it in your heart.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m not talking about evilness by mocking others as they are doing right but as Paul said to Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5:3 “why hath Satan filled your heart…”  What Paul was saying to them is that you know exactly what is right, right to the cent but you have allow Satan, (the mockery of doing right) to fill your heart from doing the right.  You have brought up for disagreement and discussion when really it is to be acted upon or fulfilled.

My last example, Our walk with God is to be a daily task.  The task is not your walk with God.  Just because you read your Bible and even pray does not mean you walk with God.  There have been many prophets that claimed to be God’s prophet but were false prophets.  These false prophets knew the Bible and even studied the Bible but did not allow the Bible to work in them. How could this be?  You see they became false prophets because they were scorners.  They became false prophets because they debated in themselves the right and wrong of what they read, they debated.  They were scorners because they became the final authority of their own religion. Walking with God is more than reading and praying. It is allowing me, David Adkins to be put aside and allowing God to tell me what is right and wrong.  Many of us have become scorners in our walk with God because we read to know information not read to have God change us.

This morning are we laughing at God’s ways?  Do we define His terms with our terms?.  Do we allow room for debate when really we have no say in any matter with God?  Has Satan filled our heart?

Walking with God is really to be called “Getting right with God”.

Have a Great Day!!!
I love you

NBC BLOG LAND

Good Morning to all of you in NBC blog land,

Please keep praying for Miss Carol, she is getting better but new concerns have come up.
Of course, Bro Walfred needs our prayer and the family as they go through this trying time in their life.
Don’t forget our fast on June 30 or July 2 for our annual Stampede Sunday BBQ and outreach July 5 with Dr Williams, souls saved, and building.

“Do It” Till it’s Done

As I read I Chronicles 28:10 and 20,
Take heed now: for the Lord hath chosen thee to build an house for the sanctuary: Be strong, and do it.
And David said to Solomon his son,  Be strong and of good courage, and do it:…
I see a certain aspect of firmness between King David and his son Solomon.  King David was very concerned about the Temple being built.  He invested so much in preparedness for this great building that he had  great passion for it’s completion.  I believe that our Christian character involving following through with things in our life is so important to us as well as important to our Saviour.  To start the right thing is vital but to complete it is very vital.  An uncompleted task that is righteous is just as sinful as not starting a righteous task. You and I will never complete a godly task if we don’t first start one.
We have started good goals in our life and never completed them.  We have promised to do things we have only half finished.  We have claimed victory when only we have ran the race half way.
This morning let us ask the Holy Spirit about our failures in our commitments that have been unfulfilled to their completion.  Let us just “do it” till it is done.  Let us do the tasks that are before us to their utmost.  Focus on each  job to their final finale’.
The checkered flag is waved only when the last lap is finished and the car crosses the line.  Let’s “do it” till it’s done!

God Bless You All during our God given day,
See you this evening

Hello My Fellow Laborers in NBC Blog Land,
Here are the fasting dates for our Stampede Sunday and Dr. Williams, June 30 or July 2, your choice.
All fathers get a free gift this Sunday.  Invite a father.

Do Not Give God Your Burdens, Joy Them

Philippians 4:4  “Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, rejoice”.

I Thessalonians 5:16  “Rejoice evermore”.

Colossians 1:24  “Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you…”

James 1:9  “Let the brother of low degree rejoice…”

I Peter 4:13  “But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ sufferings…”

These verses are a tremendous help when we are in our hour of need.  My natural thinking would be for the Lord to take all my woes away and let me have some peace of mind in my hour of need.  When I suffer I would like for God to take my cares away.

Here is the problem, I cannot find in the Bible that God would do this.  A matter of fact I honestly see a total opposite of what I want to think or see or feel.  I see that the Lord wants us not to figure out why I have a burden or am suffering but to rejoice in suffering.  There is no passing the burden over to God so that I can make it.  We are to rejoice while in it.

Here is why. In I Peter 4:13; we are partakers of Christ’s sufferings, we are carrying our cross as Christ carried his.  We do not need to rejoice or even need God when all is well or when things are going fine.  We need God when life gives us suffering.

Partakers of Christ is telling us that these burdens and sufferings in our life come from Him and not from our sin or foolishness.  We are suffering for righteousness sake or for the sake of Christ.  He’s molding us, making us, refining us to totally rely on Him and rejoice while we go through it.

Don’t try to figure out how you can get out of suffering, just rejoice while in it.  As Paul said; rejoice evermore for your sufferings are coming form God!

Hello NBC Blog Land,
Just a reminder about those going to our Soul winning Marathon.
Dress appropriately with soft cushion shoes for endurance.
The team leaders are Bro Edwin, Shane, Tony, Jim, Derek, and Sammy.  We will divide everyone on Saturday morning.
We will rendezvous at Kinsmen Park, South Entrance as soon as we arrive in Strathmore.
Do not waste time talking about why the Catholic Church is so wicked. Frivolous conversation just wastes time.
Spend 15 to 20 seconds waiting for someone at the door and if no one comes move on but leave a tract,  This is so you can put more time in someone that is getting saved than someone wasting your time.
NOTE:  Please do not leave half drunk water bottles lying around unattended at the park.  Drink all what you take! No wasting or dumping on each other.
We are planning for God to bless and see many saved.  Let’s give it all, work hard, keep moving, and give God the praise on Saturday.
Pray like it all depends on God, work like it all depends on us.
Matthew 10:15,16
“Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves”.

Our theme for our marathon is to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.  We are sheep in the midst of wolves.  Let us out smart the enemy and gain the victory for our LORD.  To out smart the enemy is do not be side tracked or veer into another waste conversation. Satan would love to have you enter into a conversation about why the swine flu has hit a dreaded level or why the sky will fall next week.  Let us stay on the purpose we are there for, that is for the Gospel’s sake.
As Bro Jim mentioned Thursday evening: Be kind, friendly, smile, compliment, and be courteous but remember this is not social time it’s Gospel time during our Marathon!
Thank you for you commitment to this church, your Pastor, and to our Lord – The King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
I love you,

Well good morning NBC blog land.
I AM THE HAPPIEST PREACHER IN CANADA - I HAVE A CHURCH THAT IS OBEYING GOD.
WE SAW 11 SAVED LAST NIGHT AND MET MANY FRIENDLY PEOPLE WHO WOULD VISIT THE CHURCH.  I AM THANKFUL FOR EVERY ONE OF YOU WHO MAKE AN EFFORT TO ATTEND EACH WEEK AND PAY A PRICE.
THANK YOU FOR GIVING TO BRO ERIC AND NATASHA LABONTE, WE RAISED $235.00 FOR THEM.
I AM PUTTING THE FINAL TOUCHES ON OUR SOUL WINNING MARATHON.  PLEASE KEEP PRAYING THAT GOD WOULD OPEN DOORS OF GREAT BLESSING AND OPPORTUNITIES TO SEE SOULS SAVED IN THIS TOWN.
I NEED YOU THERE ON JUNE 13 @ 9:00AM AT CHURCH.
IN JOHN 9
WE SEE A BLIND MAN FROM BIRTH SITTING AND BEGGING FOR FOOD AND MONEY.  WE KNOW BY CHRIST’S TEACHING THAT HE WAS BLIND SO THE WORKS OF GOD SHOULD BE MADE MANIFEST IN HIM.
I WONDER THIS MORNING IF THERE ARE ANY SET BACKS THAT GOD HAS PLACED IN OUR LIFE TO JUST SIMPLY GLORIFY HIM.  WE THINK IT IS A PAIN, A TRAGEDY, A WASTE, OR EVEN BECAUSE OF SIN.  I REALLY DO NOT KNOW WHY GOD DOES WHAT HE DOES BUT I KNOW THIS, THAT GOD DOES WHATEVER HE WANTS TO DO TO GLORIFY HIMSELF SO OTHERS WILL SEE HIM!
WITH THIS IN MIND, ARE WE ALLOWING GOD TO BE GLORIFIED IN US?  CAN OTHERS SEE HIM IN TIMES OF  PRESSURE, IN TIMES OF SORROW, IN TIMES OF NEED IN OUR LIFE. YOU SEE GOD CAN BE GLORIFIED IN OUR DAY OF PAIN WHETHER OR NOT HE HEALS US OR NOT. THE REAL FOCUS IS NOT THE HEALING, THE REAL FOCUS IS CAN I WITH ALL MY BURDENS TRULY ALLOW GOD TO BE SEEN, GLORIFIED, HONORED, LOVED, CHERISHED, AND PRAISED.
HEALING IS SECONDARY, TO GLORIFY HIM IN OUR PROBLEMS IS PRIORITY!

Good morning,
I pray all is well in NBC Blog Land.
Once again God saw fit to bless our soul winners.  we had 25 out and 13 saved last night for soul winning.  What a great evening.  Everything was a perfect evening.
Don’t forget our annual church picnic tomorrow at Bowness Park.  Look for the orange pylons.  Bring your meat, salad, chips, and LAWN CHAIRS.  Don’t steal my lawn chair!
Aleena’s grad went very well.  She walked graciously across the platform to receive her diploma then slipped and fell.
No - just kidding.  We are so proud of her for completing the first of many parts of her life.
Rebecca comes home today.  We are so excited about her coming home for the Summer.  More excited than her brothers who have to put up with her.  Her nagging, hair spray, perfume, extra long time in the bathroom, and of course talking about her date with a freshman.
Hebrews 11:1, 6
Let’s talk about faith for a minute.
Faith is a substance that allows me to step out.  We know we cannot please God without it.  We sin if we live without it.  We cannot even move in the life of Christ without possessing it.  Further more we cannot be saved without it but we all possess it.  It is the exercising of the faith we possess from God that must be tried.
Herein lies my point.  We must step out in faith before God can move us forward.
Faith is a step deeper in unchartered territory but with God assuring us that He has committed to our safety and survival.
When we were in California suffering for Jesus, we swam in the Ocean.  The waves were huge, the taste of salt was ever present. the sense of the unknown: sharks, sea snakes, fish, the vegetation floating, how about the forgotten drop off into 300 feet deep water or even rip tides. These were all a thought of fear into the unknown.  The thought of unknown in untested waters.  Our mind can stop us from pursuing God.  OUR MIND ITSELF CAN REALLY STOP US FROM PURSUING GOD!  We don’t want to go any further due to uncharted territory.  Fear of dying or missing out or even the fear of pain and hurt. We love safety, security, ez, and convenience – These are all enemies of godly faith. You and I cannot truly live for God without pain, worry, clashes, fear, or hurt.
Let us begin to move out in uncharted territory in our life, the ocean. Allow God to prove Himself to you, in a still small way that would begin to open a greater door of faith.  Little by little one step at a time.  let Him just carry us to safety. We will not pass first base in Christianity without stepping out in our life by faith in Him who promised “I will never leave thee nor sake thee.”

Hello and Good Morning to NBC Blog Land,
I pray all is well.  We had a great night out Thursday.  There were 11 saved with 32 out soul winning – Praise the Lord!
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NBC blog land….. There will be a special gift to all those present on Saturday, June 13 for our annual soul winning marathon.  Our theme is: Being wise as serpents and harmless as doves.
Pray for Brother Walfred Rodas.  He is very sore from his accident on Tuesday.
Bro Curington:
Are you lonely?  Are you afraid?  Are you despondent?
If you are a believer, guess what.  He is!  And nothing can change that.  He is with you day in and day out.  He’s promised to never leave or forsake you.  When you feel alone, guess what.  Your not!  Being alone is an impossibility for a believer.  Your lifestyle may feel lonely, but alone is no longer an option.  You belong to a lifelong Resider.  He’s come to stay, even if we stray.
With that said, we must recognize the potential power that God’s presence has on our performance in life.  No matter the job that needs to be done.  Christ, not me, is all I need.  It’s not Christ AND me, its Christ IN me!
The presence of all mighty God is only one step away from the power of that mighty God!  That step is simply faith. Faith is required to engage that power that is available to those in whom He presides.
With this said, Christ is your source of joy and comfort. In faith, trusting Him, is your way to true happiness and an exit from loneliness.
God bless

Good Morning to Everyone in NBC Blog land,
We had a great and blessed time at soul winning last night.  4 saved – wow, lets keep it up.  God Bless all those in attendance (35) and may we harvest much/more fruit for Him.
* PASTORS’ SECRET – ssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhh, I am going to give you a hint for all those out there in NBC blog land.  Pizza this Thursday, May 21 @ Operation Go. Be There!
I want you to be praying for the town of Strathmore, AB.  This town will be our next soul winning marathon on June 13, 2009.
FROM THE PASTOR’ DESK
Acts 17:11
What is discipline?  It is like the church in Berea:
“These (people of Berea) were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
We find that consistency is the key to discipline.  On again and off again in your Christian life breeds failure and discontentment.  Your victory as a Christian must hail a constant consistency, this is discipline.  Your inconsistency is exactly the result of how you feel, failure.  irritable and your life waving up and down with your thoughts and feelings (mood swings) for anything that has to do with righteousness.
Let us live as the church of Berea.  We must live consistent to be disciplined.  This is the key to a successful and healthy Christian life! Our main problem is living inconsistent, undisciplined.

Good Morning NBC,

Mother’s Day this Sunday is a special time for every person. I want to wish all our mother’s a happy Mother’s Day. We are so blessed for your love and deeds you have shown and are doing. I miss my mother so much, I wish she was here.
To all mothers – HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY – We Love You!

This morning’s blog is taken from Proverbs 8:13, “The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the forward mouth, do I hate.”

Solomon was the wisest man in the world. He knew that his wisdom did not come from his power but from God. The sign to fearing God is to hate evil. Some times we think to fear God is to just state “I fear God” or we think that fearing God is not to speed, “maybe I fear God because I go to church, I fear God because we are soul winners or we are a Sunday School teacher” when in reality the sign of fearing God is to hate all evil in our life. Evil: Is what God deems offensive in what we see, hear, and do. It has nothing to do with my standard of evil, my rule of thumb, or my years of doing the same thing so it can’t be sinful towards God. The fear of the Lord is not measured by longevity of serving Him. We like to white wash offensives in our life to over come guilt and sinful habits.
Fearing the Lord is not shunning evil or disliking it on my schedule, the fear of the Lord is to hate it, hating evil is where the fear lies.
The last half of this verse tells us that God hates pride. This is the answer to the hating evil. Pride is why Satan fell and why we will fall. Pride says I can do this without God. Anything done without God’s mind is sin. Pride makes us atheist. Pride makes us godless, Pride makes us powerless, Pride makes us pilotless, Pride makes us foolish, unwise, and unholy.
Let’s this week strive to hate evil to fear the Lord and to do this it means we must combat pride in our life by His strength.

Hating Evil is Hating Pride!

Have A Great Day.
