Do Not Give God Your Burdens, Joy Them
Philippians 4:4 “Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, rejoice”.
I Thessalonians 5:16 “Rejoice evermore”.
Colossians 1:24 “Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you…”
James 1:9 “Let the brother of low degree rejoice…”
I Peter 4:13 “But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ sufferings…”
These verses are a tremendous help when we are in our hour of need. My natural thinking would be for the Lord to take all my woes away and let me have some peace of mind in my hour of need. When I suffer I would like for God to take my cares away.
Here is the problem, I cannot find in the Bible that God would do this. A matter of fact I honestly see a total opposite of what I want to think or see or feel. I see that the Lord wants us not to figure out why I have a burden or am suffering but to rejoice in suffering. There is no passing the burden over to God so that I can make it. We are to rejoice while in it.
Here is why. In I Peter 4:13; we are partakers of Christ’s sufferings, we are carrying our cross as Christ carried his. We do not need to rejoice or even need God when all is well or when things are going fine. We need God when life gives us suffering.
Partakers of Christ is telling us that these burdens and sufferings in our life come from Him and not from our sin or foolishness. We are suffering for righteousness sake or for the sake of Christ. He’s molding us, making us, refining us to totally rely on Him and rejoice while we go through it.
Don’t try to figure out how you can get out of suffering, just rejoice while in it. As Paul said; rejoice evermore for your sufferings are coming form God!
I Love You NBC
